Altimira Student Services
Helping Students Succeed
Students don’t always learn at the same pace, and it isn’t uncommon for a student to fall behind or struggle at some point in their academic career. Altimira School cares about the well-being of every student and provides access to several services—including tutoring, mentoring, and counseling services—to help each student achieve to his or her highest potential. We encourage parents and students to voice their concerns and needs so we can work together to meet the needs of the student.
Lost & Found
Students must assume responsibility for loss or damage to any personal property left in the classroom or on campus. The school is not responsible for personal property. Found articles should be taken to the school lost and found located in the main office. Items in the lost and found will be donated at the end of each month to a local charity. Students should write their names on all books and personal belongings. Students should not bring valuables or large amounts of money (more than $3.oo) to school. Altimira does not have student lockers. Thefts should be reported to the office.
Counseling If you are having problems academically, individually, or with your peers, our staff is available to help you. Beside
During the first two weeks of school a parent can request a teacher change without following the teacher change process. Most changes will occur if changed do unbalance classes or exceed class size limits. The parent requesting a change must have had a conference with the teacher prior to submitting a teacher change request. To request a change the parent must submit the request in writing and identify the specific concerns they have with the teacher and the principal. A meeting will occur between student, parent, teacher, administration and counseling with the goal of resolving the concerns that have been previously submitted in writing. A minimum of two to three weeks will be given to determine if the concerns have been resolved or can be resolved. A student's refusal to do schoolwork or homework is not considered as an attempt to resolve the concern. If concerns are not resolved administration, and counseling will meet with the new teacher to decide if a teacher cchange will occur.
Library & Media Center
The Library/Media Center is located in the center of campus. This area is for studying, research, and using computers. Here are the expected guidelines that must be observed: 1. Books and other materials may be checked out for home or school use. 2. There will be late charges for all overdue books and materials. 3. No food, drinks, or gum are allowed.
P3-Principal Pizza Party
Once a month each grade at Altimira honors students for academic excellence, behavioral excellence or both academic and behavioral excellence. The students are awarded a pizza and water lunch with the principal.
