Hi Everyone,
8ab
I will be the new Tech Elective teacher but not new to the district. I have done a lot of different things for the district these past 22 years and this is my 35th year of teaching. For most of my teaching career I have taught math from 6th grade math to pre calculus. In the last few years I was teaching in Independent Study at SVHS and I worked at the district office doing different odd jobs which included Title 3 (English Language program compliance), educational technology, grade report cards, SVHS design team work, BTSA (beginning teacher program) to name a few. So this year I chose to go back into classroom (60% of the time) and continue being the District BTSA Coordinator, a side job. Also I was chosen to work on a pilot professional development program for Algebra 1 teachers, which is funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
My college education began at Reedley College in Reedley, CA, then finished at Fresno State with my teaching credential. My major was mathematics with a minor in business. Recently I finished my masters in Educational Technology, which is a major reason I choose to teach the tech elective course and the professional development program, which is an online on demand program for Algebra 1 teachers in Florida, Arizona, and other miscellaneous cities in the US.
I have two sons, Bryan (28) and Matthew (23). Bryan graduated from Altimira, SVHS, and Cal Poly. Matthew graduated from Adele, SVHS, and UC Santa Cruz. Both love travelling, Bryan went to a Canary Islands to be in a wedding and Matthew is in the middle east.
My husband, Mark, is an enologist for O'Neill Vintners & Distillers in Parlier, CA. It is the eighth largest winery in the US.
I am looking forward to teaching at Altimira this year!
